Someone mentioned GameRanger at TimeGate

Since the Kohan II Engine and A&A game engines are very similar, and they appear to have the same Gamespy integrated coding GameRanger should probably work for you guys and you might want to try moving your games over to game ranger until the Gamespy hosting is resolved. |
GameRanger looks like a possibility, especially if it working for KohanII. "Axis and Allies" is listed as supported, but it might be original 1997 version... It's got a server list, chat room, buddy list, and ladder capability.

(We still need to figure out an interface)
[i have to go back to work, but if someone want to research about "kohanII gameranger" that would be awesome] |

well this looks like it could work, i made a post on their forums, so we'll see what they say. The head guy just added the Kohan II last July so maybe he'd be willing to add A&A while it's fresh in his mind
They only way to access their forums is to install GameRanger, but some more posts at http://www.gameranger.com/forum/?t=593 wouldn't hurt
With lobby, custom chat rooms, buddy lists, and ladder capability it could be a pretty cool solution... hell the interface even looks a little familiar

Hey there, just thought you'd like to know that Axis and Allies RTS (and its demo) are now playable on GameRanger.
I know the GameSpy issue has been solved for now, but this gives you another option so you aren't dependent on their goodwill. Plus, GameRanger deals with routers and firewalls automatically. |

thats awesome scott, many thanks! I have another site that is much more active with A&A players, I'll spread the word....
I'm sure Gamespy support will end at some point so glad to know we have a future home when that day comes. Kudos for the excellent service you provide! |
